What you agree to
when you take part.

This is the notice you see before an interview starts. It says what an interview is, what we record, who can see it, how you are paid, and how to stop or withdraw. Read it once; it is short.

Who we are

User Evaluation is a research platform run by Neu Software LLC, a company registered in the United States. Companies use it to interview people about their products. We recruit the participants, run the interviews and pay you. The company that asked for the interview is called the researcher in this notice.

Before every interview we tell you who the research is for, or, if the researcher has asked to stay unnamed, what kind of company it is and what the interview is about.

What an interview is

An interview is a voice call with an AI moderator. The moderator asks the researcher’s questions, listens to your answers and asks follow-up questions, the way a human interviewer would. There is no person on the other end of the call while it runs.

  • It takes 15 to 30 minutes. The invite shows the expected length.
  • You take it from a laptop or desktop, in a quiet place, at a time you choose within the invite window.
  • There are no right answers. The researcher wants your honest experience, including the parts that did not work.
  • Some interviews ask you to open a website or app and talk through what you are doing. The invite says so in advance.

What we record

When you start the call you are agreeing to the following being recorded:

  • Audio of the whole call, and a written transcript made from it.
  • Camera, only if the invite asks for it and you turn it on. Most interviews do not.
  • Your screen, only if the invite asks you to share it. You choose which window to share, and you can stop sharing at any point.
  • Your screener answers, the language of the call, and technical details such as call quality.

We do not record anything before you press start or after the call ends.

How recordings are used

The researcher gets a study report: a written summary of what participants said, where every claim links to the seconds of recording it came from. Members of the researcher’s workspace can play those clips and read the transcript. That is what the recording is for.

  • Recordings and transcripts are stored encrypted and are visible only inside the researcher’s workspace and to User Evaluation staff who need access for support.
  • Recordings are never made public, never posted, and never sold.
  • Personal details are masked before any text is sent to a model provider.
  • The researcher sees your first name, your screener answers and the profile fields they screened on. They do not see your email or your payment details.

If a researcher wants to use a clip outside their workspace, for example in a public talk, they have to ask us and we have to ask you. Nothing leaves the workspace without your separate, written yes.

Payment

  • You are paid per completed interview. The rate is shown in the invite before you accept.
  • An interview counts as completed when you reach the end of the call. If the researcher flags the session and we agree that it is defective, for example an empty line, a second person answering or a bot, it is not paid. We never judge your opinions.
  • Payouts go out monthly, by PayPal or bank transfer, in USD.
  • We do not withhold taxes. You receive the full amount and are responsible for declaring it under your local rules.
  • If you stop an interview early or withdraw afterwards, you are not paid for it, but nothing else changes: you stay in the pool and keep receiving invites.

Your rights

Taking part is voluntary from start to finish.

  • Stop at any time. End the call whenever you want. You do not need to give a reason.
  • Skip any question. Say “skip” or “I’d rather not answer” and the moderator moves on.
  • Withdraw afterwards. Email us within 30 days of the interview and we delete the recording, the transcript and any clips cited from it, and we tell the researcher it has been withdrawn.
  • Get a copy. Ask and we send you the recording and transcript of any interview you took.
  • Ask us anything. Support is a human at support@userevaluation.com.

If you live in the EU, the UK or another region with data protection law, you also have the rights that law gives you, including access, correction and erasure. Our privacy policy explains how to use them.

Agents are not participants

Some researchers also use Swarm, a User Evaluation product in which software agents sign up for the researcher’s product and use it. Those agents are software. They are not people, and they are not part of the participant pool.

  • You will never be paired with an agent, interviewed by one in place of the moderator, or asked to pretend to be one.
  • Anything an agent produces is labelled as agent data everywhere it appears. Your interview is never mixed in with it or mistaken for it.
  • Where an agent’s finding is checked with real people, that is a separate, paid task and you are told it is one.

How long we keep it

  • Recordings and transcripts stay in the researcher’s workspace for as long as the researcher keeps them. Researchers can set a shorter retention period, and some delete recordings once the study report is delivered.
  • When a researcher closes their workspace, its recordings are deleted within 30 days.
  • Your profile, screener answers and payment records stay while your participant account is active. Close the account and we delete them, except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons.
  • A withdrawal request under Your rights deletes the recording sooner.

Questions, a withdrawal request, or a copy of your data: email support@userevaluation.com. A person reads every message and answers within two working days.
