Versive Alternative: Voice-First AI Interviews With No Card Required

Versive deserves real credit for how it sells. In a category where most AI-interview vendors route every visitor to a demo call, Versive publishes actual prices on its site: Pro at $99 per month billed annually with 360 credits per year and 2 seats, Team at $279 per month with 1,200 credits per year and 5 seats, and a custom Enterprise tier. There is a self-serve 14-day trial with full Team features, sample report imagery on the site so you can see the output format, and SOC 2 Type II compliance. That is a more open buying experience than most of this market offers.

So this comparison is not a sales-led vendor versus a self-serve one. It is two self-serve products that made different choices, and a few of those choices are worth checking before you enter a card number.

Two details in the trial worth checking

First, the credit card. Versive's 14-day trial gives you full Team features, but it requires a credit card upfront. That is a common SaaS pattern, not a criticism of intent. It does change the shape of a trial, though: you are starting a subscription you may need to cancel, rather than exploring a product that stays free.

User Evaluation's free plan needs no card and does not expire. It is $0 forever, with 100 agent credits per month, 3 projects, 1 GB of storage, and trial grants for interviews and transcription. Deep Research is available on paid plans. If the product does not earn an upgrade, there is nothing to cancel.

Second, what you can see before signing up. Versive shows sample report imagery, which is genuinely useful for judging output quality, but there is nothing interactive to try before creating an account. User Evaluation puts the actual research agent on the marketing site. You can chat with it, watch it plan a study and draft a discussion guide, and judge the core interaction before you hand over an email address.

Interview format: async text versus real-time voice

Versive's interviews lean toward text and asynchronous formats. That approach has real advantages: participants answer on their own schedule, and text scales cheaply across time zones.

User Evaluation runs real-time, AI-moderated voice interviews with real people. The moderator asks adaptive follow-ups in the moment, can show stimuli such as concepts or screens mid-interview, and works in 40 languages. For research where tone, hesitation, and emotion carry signal, hearing a participant think out loud is different from reading a typed answer. Every session is transcribed and analyzed for themes, cited quotes, sentiment, and emotion, and the reports carry clickable citations that jump back to the exact moment in the source recording, plus highlight clips for sharing with stakeholders.

Which format is right depends on the questions you ask. If you want depth from a live conversation, voice is the point.

What User Evaluation does

User Evaluation is an AI research agent in a chat workspace, and the agent runs the whole loop. You describe the decision you are trying to make. The agent plans the study, drafts the discussion guide and screener, and recruits participants from your own list or from the User Evaluation participant pool. It then moderates the voice interviews, transcribes them, analyzes the evidence, and assembles a report you can defend, because every claim links to the recording it came from.

Two guardrails shape the workflow. Evidence always comes from real humans; AI is the interviewer and analyst, never the participant. And nothing is published and no money is spent without your approval: the agent shows the plan and the expected cost, then waits. A public API is available if you want the same loop inside your own tooling.

Pricing, compared honestly

Versive's Pro plan works out to $1,188 per year for 360 credits and 2 seats. User Evaluation's Pro plan is $49 per month, or $41 per month billed yearly, and includes 5 own-participant AI interviews every month, unlimited projects, 30 audio and video processing hours, and 30 Deep Research runs. Team is $199 per month (or $166 yearly) with 5 seats, 25 own-participant interviews per month, and 100 pooled processing hours.

On top of the plans, interview packs are one-time purchases that never expire: own participants at $9 each in a 10-pack or $8 each in a 25-pack, and User Evaluation pool participants, with sourcing included, at $24 each in a 10-pack or $22 each in a 25-pack.

A caution on comparing directly: Versive's credits and User Evaluation's interviews are not the same unit, so run the math for your own volume. The useful point is that both companies let you do that math from a public page. User Evaluation's entry price is lower, the free plan is permanent, and no card is needed to start.

When Versive is the better fit

Choose Versive if asynchronous, text-leaning studies match your research style, if you want a vendor with SOC 2 Type II paperwork ready for security review, or if an annual credit budget across a small number of seats is how your team prefers to plan. The sample reports on their site give you a fair preview of the output, and because their prices are public, you can make that call quickly. That is more than most competitors allow.

Versive raised the bar on pricing openness in this category, and that deserves saying plainly. If you want live voice interviews, a free plan that never expires, and a product you can try before you even sign up, User Evaluation is built for that path.
